Powdery scab situation

Powdery scab has been first reported in Hokkaido in 1954 and afterwards it was found in most of the main potato production areas. Recently, powdery scab is recognized as an important soilborne disease especially in seed tuber production and fresh market
and demand for establishment of controling methods has increased.

Research
There has been not much investigation on the disease because of the obligate nature of the causal organism. Recently some research has started looking for quantification methods for spore balls using immunological methods.
